Julehjerte - Danish Christmas Hearts

The Danish Julehjerte (yul-he-yerte) - Danish Christmas Heart is a symbol of Christmas in Denmark. Dating back to Hans Christian Andersen in 1860, families traditionally hand made and woven from paper each year for their tree.
Sometimes they were used as Advent hearts, where a little chocolate or lolly was placed in the heart (which forms a basket) on the tree for kids (big and little) to enjoy on the lead up to Christmas.
They are rustic and handwoven by Scandidreaming (me!) without a single stitch (just a little glue for the handles) and come in different colours - red and white is the most famous and traditional.
